Vision of the World
By Josh Watkins
Those eyes that stare into my soul,
Those eyes that scorch whatever they fall upon.
Eyes of darkness, eyes of judgment,
eyes of lies, eyes of hurt, eyes of anger.
O how you give me chills,
From only a glimpse. You eyes are
like imps playing with fire.
Eyes that roll, eyes that flicker, eyes that dance,
Eyes full of trickery, eyes of greed, eyes
that swindle. Eyes that manipulate, eyes that deceive,
Eyes of envy, eyes of death.
Those eyes of many, feared and loved by all.
Eyes of light, eyes of wonder,
Eyes of love, eyes that shine through the
rain. Eyes that are soft, eyes that comfort,
Eyes of compassion, eyes of truth, eyes of power,
Eyes behind the glass.
Those eyes I see all around me.
Eyes full of color, eyes full of magic,
Eyes that are wild, eyes that can make a
fire dance under the neon moon.
Eyes of pride, eyes that are proud,
Eyes that twinkle, eyes that shout.
Eyes of joy, eyes that sing,
Eyes that laugh, eyes of warmth.
Those eyes must be cherished,
for they are beautiful.
Eyes of old, eyes of gray, eyes of
sadness, eyes that have seen all,
Eyes of wisdom.
Eyes that yearn, eyes of faith,
Eyes of care, eyes of grace.
Eyes that long to be young again.
Eyes that dream, eyes that know,
Eyes of destiny, eyes of hope.
These are the eyes of the world.
I treasure the eyes. If I had to answer those lame ice breaker questions like "What's your favorite feature," I would answer the eyes. Eyes are a window into ones soul. If they conceal their words and show no expression, the eyes give away their true feelings.
Eyes let us perceive the beauty before us. They guide us, give us memories, allow us to witness the impossible and spectacular. There are so many characteristics and I wanted to describe as many as I could.
So replace the "eyes" in this piece with an individual. Then re-read it and see the difference. Cherish your eyes. Use them to their full extent. Give them rest when need and shield them from the sun with style. The eyes are a beautiful thing.
